Tobasa SM55-PRO in action: What a scrubber-dryer really achieves on 900 m²

Andreas Tendyck

The problem: A hall of 600 to 900 m² is being mopped by hand. This takes one to two hours every day, the result is uneven, and the floor stays wet for a long time. Eventually, the question arises as to whether a machine could do it better and more cost-effectively.

The machine in the video

Shown is the Tobasa SM55-PRO cleaning a hall floor: fresh water with cleaning agent is applied in front of the brush, the circular brush loosens the dirt, and the squeegee picks up the dirty water immediately. The floor is ready to walk on immediately behind the machine.

What the SM55-PRO can do

  • Working width 850 mm at the squeegee, 510 mm at the brush
  • Up to 2,000 m²/h according to the manufacturer – in practice, we recommend it for areas of up to approx. 900 m² per pass
  • 55 liters of fresh water, 60 liters of dirty water – enough for one pass without refilling
  • Over 5 hours of run time with the 24V/100Ah battery, charging time around 6 hours
  • No drive motor – the machine is pushed. Anyone working on larger areas daily should choose the SM55F-PRO with traction drive, which is technically the same machine with a 300 W drive motor.

Who it is suitable for – and who it is not

The SM55-PRO is the right choice for workshops, warehouses, production areas, and public facilities with smooth hard floors: tiles, PVC, sealed concrete, epoxy resin. It is not suitable for carpet, unsealed concrete, outdoor areas, and coarse dirt such as shavings or leaves – that is the job of a sweeper.

Is it worth it?

With 900 m², five cleanings per week, and personnel costs of €28 per hour, the machine generally saves more than two hours per cleaning compared to a mop. Calculate it for your own area: the product page features an area calculator that computes the time and cost savings per year based on your own figures.
